Requirements for Blogging Success

By admin | August 16, 2008

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how people get to be successful at blogging. At the very least there has to be a committment on the part of the blogger. It takes time and energy to keep going and lots of passion. You have to be prepared to spend a lot of time on this. It can take a good hour or more a day to finish one blog post. You also have to be in it for the long haul. There is no point in blogging for a few weeks and then having a lengthy break. I have read that you have to be in this for the medium to long term if you are to see any return on your efforts.

Speaking of effort,if you find it an effort then perhaps you should be thinking of doing something else or starting another blog with a subject that interests you? To be honest,I wasnt sure what I was doing when I first started writing my blog posts. I thought I wouldnt be able to keep it up but I have found 2 new loves, well a revisit to an old one, writing and a new one, the internet. Call me sad,but despite all the frustrations, I actually love getting to grips with all the technology although I am hopeless at it! It mus take me treble the time it takes anyone else but I get there in the end. You can have a lot of fun and frustration teaching yourself how to video. Not quite there yet,but I will be.

Beginners have to plan to blog for at least a few months and this means finding the time to do it. You might have to reexamine your priorities. For those bloggers with families,it could mean blogging in the wee small hours. To get a readership you have to keep at it. Those readers then deserve your best and that means committing the time to it.

This means being interesting, fresh and unique as you can be. It also means being relevant. Take time to vary how you communicate without losing your focus. People need to have a reason to read your blog, there are plenty out there. Blogs and people!

You need to be focused. This means being focused in your content, focused in your style and focused in your intent to interest and inform your readers. If you focus on blogging on a particular area for long enough in an informative, easy style, your readers will learn to trust you and thats what its all about.

Until next time

Jane
