Project Overload
By admin | August 29, 2008
Project overload or too many eggs in too many baskets. You know the feeling, you have loads of things on the go and you rarely finish one. Its something I am only too familiar with and I am sure that if you are serious about getting a business (any business ) on the internet, it will be something you will recognise sooner or later.
You know the scenario, you have lots of ideas and lots to work on. The problem is a project is only worth something once its complete, not half or three quarters complete but finished. A lot of people go around starting something and then get distracted. You only have so much by way of resource, be it time, energy or money and if you spread any of that too thinly you will end up with lots of half finished projects and a half finished project is very hard to resurrect. You lose momentum.
You need to work on one project at a time or as near to that as you can manage. Dont spend a little bit of time on this and a little bit of time on that. If you do you will find that you waste your time, in reality and never actually achieve anything.
Get one thing actually finished and then move onto the next. If you get an idea while you are working on the first project, note it down and then forget about it until you have finished the original project then you can return and look at your ideas again and move onto the next project.
In summary, keep your focus and don’t jump around from one thing to another. If you find yourself unable to finish anything then perhaps you need to take a step back and plan a little more before you jump in!
What do you do to cope with overload?
