Internet Nightmares

I thought I would do a quick post on my nightmares of the last few days. If you are struggling to get up and running on the internet, this might make you feel better or at least you might not feel on your own. I sometimes think that if it can happen to anyone,it can happen to me. If you are feeling a bit cheesed off at the moment,all I can say is look on the bright side!
The potted version.
A week ago I was looking for a voucher coupon to try and get something I wanted to buy. If you dont know,these are codes that are somtimes available and give you a discount on a product (if you manage to find one that is). I duly searched on google for the codes for this particular item and on page 1 there was a site that seemed appropriate. I went into it and I dont know what happened next,perhaps I went into a parallel universe, because before I knew it,something weird was happening to my laptop. It went awol and wouldnt behave. My gut told me it was serious.
Over to my friendly local computer guy. He came round,fiddled for about 30 minutes and with much shaking of the head and sucking of the lips,he asked if I had a backup of my system. Eek. This was something I had meant to get around to but had never quite done it. He had to take my laptop away,load it all onto a safe area and clean it all up. £100 later ($200) he returned it in tip top shape. That was an expensive discount code and a serious lesson. I now have a back up unit and will do it religiously every friday.
Anyway I then took said laptop to partners this weekend. We were both going to do a little work (only a little you understand) and I couldnt get the b**** laptop onto the internet connection at my partners house. It had always worked before and it was obviously because of the cleanup. We spent a number of hours on saturday to-ing and fro-ing,telephoning internet man who was away for the weekend and not best pleased at trying to talk me through it before he gave up due to my own thickness I think. I talked to tiscali my ISP in India at premium rates and its still not sorted. Result,here I am on monday morning trying to do what I wanted to try and crack over the weekend.
What I wanted to try and crack was making a video for you guys to help you along this path. Now I think I am going to make a video about making videos because it isnt easy,at least for me. So bear with me ,you should have the first one in the next couple of days. Unless I introduce another trojan into my system that is!
