Blast your Pathway to Internet Marketing Success In Easy Steps
By admin | June 13, 2008
How do you start getting an internet marketing business? You can waste sooo much time thinking too hard about this. Fretting about niches, finding keywords, thinking aboutdomain names….thinking and not doing is the killer. It’s very easy to get bogged down in all of the technical stuff and not get going at all.
If there is one thing I have learnt (apart from perseverance) its that is way too easy to spend all your time thinking and reading and not actually doing anything.
Now I am not saying that you should rush at this like a bull in a china shop but there are a few things you could be thinking about at the start to get yourself thinking and moving.
So you have a couple of hours to spare today?
Think about what sort of niche you might want to be in. Niches are everywhere and you have to get into the mindset of looking for them. Obviously not all of them will make money and you have to find a decent sized market. There might be a number of people collecting crisp packets or old horseshoes and they might be fanatical about it but there may only be a small number.
Think about what interests you. Find your passion and do some research. If you like gardening, is there a specific part of it that you really love? Is it looking at seed catalogues, propagating, digging or no dig, flowers or vegetables? Think niche within niche.
Don’t however beat yourself up about it. If you get too bogged down in this you will never move on. I delayed my progress for months because I just couldn’t find something that interested me that seemed to have a big enough market (perhaps I have weird interests).
Start by having a look at clickbank. This is the largest marketplace for digital products. There are literally thousands of products here and by browsing through you will almost certainly find a number which appeal.
What should you be looking for? Well you are given the dollar per sale, which is pretty obvious really and the percentage per sale. Have a look and see who is offering the most in that particular sector.
Then we get to one of the more important bits. The gravity. I don’t know how this works, it’s some sort of secret formula applied by Clickbank but I do know that the ones at the top are selling more and it changes frequently. From my research, such as it is, don’t go for the ones with the highest gravity, they are best sellers but the market will be way too competitive. Look for those with a gravity of around 20 to 100.This means that they are selling but it’s not going to have to compete with tons of others out there.
Look at the product itself. Does the sales page grab you, are there lots of testimonials? Does it look professional? Is it something you might want to promote? If it ticks all the boxes for you then you need to get on to it as an affiliate.
It’s free to enrol as an affiliate. You will need to get a clickbank account but it’s free too. Just join up, its real easy to complete the paperwork, it takes a few minutes. Don’t put you name in the bit where it asks for your account nickname, choose something that looks a bit more professional rather than just your name. Something like got or jump or redirect. I didn’t do this and I have what looks like an obvious affiliate link which I think looks poor so try something impersonal. Don’t bother about the website address if you haven’t got one at this stage. You don’t actually need one to start selling affiliate products.Worry about that later!
Then go to the product, get on their affiliate list and see what they offer by way of sales letters, help as an affiliate and follow up. You are going to need a lot of help at this stage so have a mosey around and see what you can come up with.
Theres a load more research you can do but my advice would be to look for something you are interested in, that you have a bit of knowledge anout, although you dont have to be an expert and one are willing to invest some time and energy in.
You could look at a few associated products and have a review site where you analyze them and compare so that when people click on your link you get paid if they buy the product or you could simply promote the product itself.
More about this later

Jane
