Is there anybody out there?
By admin | August 9, 2008
Do you ever feel that you are talking to yourself? One of the perils of blogging or updating any sort of website is the feeling of being on your own. If you are blogging successfully (congratulations) but when you are starting off it can be very lonely. There is a feeling in the first few weeks which borders on embarrassment. You will be sat at your PC or laptop, tapping away on the keys, delivering some pearls of wisdom, or not as teh case may be and it goes off….where, into cyberspace. You push the publish key,the post goes live and there is a resounding silence. Who reads it, where is it floating about, are there any search engines crawling all over it in seconds? The reality is that it is a big wide world out there and there are over a million blogs, not all active but it gives you some idea of the scale of the thing.
So you will feel like you are talking to yourself and in the first few weeks and months, you probably are! Dont give up. It can be hard work but eventually it will pay off and you will start getting found.Use the early stages to brush up on your copy, learn a few tricks, work on the look of your blog.Learn how to upload photos, work on any offers you want to make if you are intending to monetise your site and have a good look at how your particular blogging platform (eg wordpress) works
Make use of this time. When your adoring public find you, you will be ready for them!
