And Blogging Again

So we now have the domain name, the hosting account, the FTP and wordpress. Now you need them to speak to one another.

Firstly return to your hosting account. When you set up your domain, you will have received a user name and password. Go and get them. Now you need to go to your Cpanel. Its the sort of operations room behind your domain. If you type in your domain name/cpanel and put in that user name and password, you will get to that cpanel.

What you are looking for is the “create database” section. This is just a box where all your wordpress files are going to reside.

All you do is click on the create database. Most hosting companies have an association with wordpress and there will be something like create database wordpress MySQL or similar. Once you have done that,it will add on your user name for your hosting account so you will get something like domain_wordpress.You need to keep a note of that name.

Then you need to create a user, you’ll need to create a password and again as usual keep them somewhere safe. I actually write them all down in a book. Its a bit untidy and I live in fear of losing it but for the time being it works!

You need to create a user to make the database work, dont ask me why, I havent a clue but you need to do both to get it to work.

You then need to link the user and the database. You will see somehting like Add user to database, click on that and just click on all privileges.

So you now have your database, your user and you have added your user to your database. Nearly there now!
