What is social marketing? It’s a fairly new way of doing things. Its also known as web 2.0.
Is there anything in it for the newbie marketer? Well of course there is.This area of the internet has shown enormous growth over the last couple of years and sites such as MySpace and Facebook increase their membership month on month.
What do you need to think about then when considering social networking? Well its free for one thing
its fast and its fun. It takes a bit of time to set up and it does need nurturing like any sort of internet presence but it can take on a momentum of its own once you take some time to set it up. It can be a very effective way of building up your business. You can tap into oodles of free traffic and you can be yourself on there.
There are over 189 milllion profiles on MySpace for example. You are creating your own little landing page in effect. Its a personal connection rather than a selling space initially. Many people use pen names but I think its important to use your own photograph even if you use a different name. People are more likely to buy from someone they connect with.
You can go out and target people who might be in your niche.
You need to create a believable profile. You need to connect with someone on a personal level. There is no point in the hard sell. Marketing comes at a diffferent level. You can target to an individual or groups. If you get involved then you are in a better position to market.
There are very many ways to target and contact people.There are some very effective ways of doing this.It is relatively easy to find a good targeted market in Myspace particularly. You can send bulletins to friends or groups and send out your affiliate link or a link to your website or whatever as long as you have established a connection with the group.
Social networking through sites such as Myspace or Facebook means that a lot of the work in building up a targeted list is done for you.
There’s loads to explore in these sites and much valuable information can be gleaned.There are many different options.
