Are You Making Money Online?

This is the big “if”. Can you make money online a without having any ideas where to start? I am starting to see some progress here but it takes hard work and perserverance. You need to have both to be successful. I think I can safely say that if you are not prepared to work at this for a good few hours a week to start off with, then don’t start. You could be wasting your time.
But where do you start? If you have no ideas at all and are a total beginner, I would suggest that you look at my last few posts, to give you a feel for starting to at least put some sort of plan together. There is a lot of research you have to do first. Don’t just launch into it, research your potential market, within the internet marketing scenario. What is “hot” right now….just look at your emails. If like me you are bombarded every day, try and sort out the wheat from the chaff. It has to be said that there is a lot of junk in there. There is also some pretty advanced stuff that will be useless to you when you are first starting out. I am on a course at the moment and I know that I would have struggled more (and probably given up) had I done it 6 months ago.You have to be careful that you dont go too far too quickly. Try and get the basics in first.
So what other research would I suggest? When you are doing some competitive research, trying to find out what the market is and how big it might be there are some other free tools you might want to look at. Alexa, which I think is owned by Amazon is one of them. You could do some searches in there and get a list say related to adwords or blogging or whatever other niche you might be interested in. If you then hover over teh site,it will give you a traffic ranking. The higher the number, the lower the traffic rank. If you look at traffic details, it will give you a graph and you can see whether the trend are up or down. If there are a number of competitors in that area, with increasing graphs then you could assume that its a field which might be doing rather well at the moment. There are trends in internet marketing. For example not that long ago, it was social marketing, now traffic generation seems to be the in thing again(if that ever goes away).
There are a couple of other things I will look at tomorrow, but in the meantime, happy searching.
