3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Buy Anything..Else

By admin | September 23, 2008

I am one of the worlds worst for buying information on the internet. I have bought so many courses, so many ebooks, attended courses at extortionate amounts and been persuaded to buy more once there, so if you are feeling that you are spending vast amounts of money and not getting anywhere, believe me I am there with bells on!

I made a decision not to buy anything else unless I truly thought it would add value to my existing library of information. It may pay you to take stock of what you have to date and make a similar decision.

What are the three questions to ask yourself before geting your weary credit card out again?

  1. Will I use it? This is the number one question. The vast majority of people never use the information they have bought. There could be a number of reasons for this but if you are not 100% sure that this product will be useful/ will be used….don’t.  Buy it on trial by all means but make sure that you get all the cancellation details, copy them onto your desktop, diarise them, whatever it takes to ensure that if the product is likely to gather dust, you return it post haste.
  2. Do I need it? Sometimes its diffficult to tell without looking at it, but I think it safe to assume that if you are a newbie and the product is about SEO optimisation and you dont even know what that is, then you dont need it,yet. Don’t be fooled by the fancy salesletter, try and figure out what the product is or might do for you before you go ahead and again, take advantage of any return rights.
  3. Can I afford it? The question sometimes is, can you not? If its a straight choice between buying it and buying food, perhaps you ought to wait. See if there are cheaper or free products out there.

You might find that the products that automate the time consuming things, like keyword research are tings that should take a priority at this stage and some cheaper beginners courses that give you the basics first are better than marching in (like me) and buying everything that starts with Google or Killer or Affiliate or a combination or variation of the three.

Sit back and examine where you are at the moment. Where are the gaps?

I am working on an ebook that will give you the basics free. I have spent enough time and money over the last few months and I am distilling that into a basic format to help you plan a path through this morass. i struggle to see the wood for the trees sometimes and I hope this will help us both.

Til next time

Jane
